How Splendor scores
Splendor is a straight prestige race with only two point sources: the numbers printed on the development cards you buy, and noble tiles worth 3 each. When a player ends their turn on 15 or more prestige, the round is played out so everyone has taken the same number of turns, then the highest total wins. Ties break to the player who purchased the fewest development cards.
Where the points actually live
Level 1 cards are almost all worth zero prestige - you buy them for the permanent gem bonus, not the score. The points sit in level 2 (1 to 3 each) and level 3 (3 to 5 each), plus nobles at 3 apiece. It is completely normal to sit on 0 points for the first third of the game while everyone builds their bonus pyramid, and a winning total is usually 15 to 18.
Nobles visit automatically, and only one per turn
At the end of your turn you check the face-up noble tiles. If you have the bonuses one of them requires, that noble visits you for 3 prestige - it costs no action and it is not optional. If you qualify for two nobles on the same turn you take only one; the other stays available for a later turn. There is always one more noble tile in play than there are players.
Bonuses count for nobles, tokens never do
Noble tiles look at your permanent card bonuses (the gem symbol in the corner of each development card you own), never at the gem tokens sitting in front of you. Tokens are currency and are worth zero prestige at the end of the game. This is the most common scoring mistake at the table: someone counts five sapphire chips toward a noble that wants four sapphire bonuses.
Hitting 15 does not end the game
Reaching 15 only means the current round gets finished so every player has had an equal number of turns. A player later in turn order can pass you on their final turn, and often does - a level 3 card plus a noble is 8 points in one action. If you are the start player, crossing 15 hands every opponent one more turn to answer you.
The tiebreak is fewest cards, not most gems
If two players finish level on prestige, the one who bought fewer development cards wins. Noble tiles do not count as development cards. That quietly rewards buying a few expensive high-value cards over grinding out a wide pile of cheap ones, and it decides more close games than most groups expect.
